Matt took Sarah (us) fishing last weekend at Joe Tucker's to test out the new fishing pole that was given to Sarah for 2nd grade graduation. That's what she wanted for getting all A's! So we gathered up our stuff: fishing pole, bread, water bottles, hot dogs, sunglasses and of course the camera and headed off in the late afternoon. The very moment that Matt put his first hook in the water he caught a small bass! He unhooked it and threw it back. There was Instant Gratification :)We did not bring anything to take the fish home with us because we just wanted some fishing practice with our new pole. So, we moved down a little bit and set up camp where there was not so much brush by the bank. There were plenty of nibbles in this new spot, but nothing was biting - YET. We brought in the secret weapon - hot dog! Then the moment of excitement happened. Sarah hooked a small catfish! She was so excited and we all were caught up in the moment of the big catch. Matt tried to get the hook out of the fish all the while Sarah begged and pleaded and even sobbed for us to keep the fish. In the mean time, Matt puts his finger inside the fish's mouth to get the hook and it bites him (this has been the most favorite part to tell about our fishing experience to others). Finally got to throw the catfish back and calm a hysterical child down only to find out that the reason she wanted to keep the fish is because she wanted her daddy to make her a plaque (with the router) and nail the fish to the plaque and hang it in her room! We were rolling at this really sweet desire. We then asked her what she would do when the fish began to stink? She replied, throw it away and get a new one! She loves spending time with her Daddy!!! We could not have asked for a better day - and we got to spend it together!
